The membership fee helps us to cover administration and management costs and is the first step to owning your own Tamworth.

You will get regular e-news about your own pig and the farm.

Followed By

9 Monthly Payments of £45.  

This includes  the purchase of your Weaner, up to 9 months of lodgings & feed for your pig, transport & abattoir costs, butchering & processing costs (to your specification or you can do your own butchering under the guidance of our butchers and learn something of this skill and craft) and finally the packaging of your products.

Should you select to go down the italian route and  go for naturally air-dried charcuterie  we will need to add an additional £85 to your processing costs as it is considerably more labour-intensive and takes more time to prepare.

What do you get in return for these costs ?

At the end of the 7 - 9 months (depending on how long it takes to fatten your pig; don't forget, free-range and rare-breed means slow and never uniform !!) you should expect your pig to weigh ap 65kgs dead-weight from which you should get some 30-35kgs of product (ie loins, bellies, shoulders, legs, trim, offal).  This has an average market-place value of £12/kg.  This value will vary depending on how much you decide to turn into sausages, burgers, cure into gammons and bacon or air-dry into charcuterie or just keep as joints.  We will guide you on your selection. 

SO....for your £315-£405 of monthly investment you will get £360-£420 of product or more depending on what you chose to do  as discussed above.  Not to mention the priceless value of enjoying fantastic products from your very own pig; to which we hope that you will add considerably more value by having and enjoying it with friends and family - and just LOVING the whole experience.  Priceless ??  YES CERTAINLY  !!

Other Costs and Benefits

In addition you can also enjoy your-self / selves, and have alot of fun learning insights into farming your pig and land-management in general - and of course creating from it a fabulous and healthy product for eating. You will also have more fun meeting and getting to know your co-POATers !!  

Enjoying Your Pig (POAT weekends per person)

These costs are all-in for food (but not alcohol), and entertainment, but do not include accommodation. You can either camp on the farm or stay locally.

Camping on the farm for £5/night in tents or £10/night in caravans or camper vans.
